A Collective Voice - Identity and Belonging
Many people attended the workshops with Covid restrictions relaxed. It was an opportunity to meet in person, have fun creating art and stories about their lives. Via Teams we ran a Hybrid workshop with people working from their homes and sending artwork via a WhatsApp. group.
A six week project exploring the 'Worlds' of all the participants, through story, art and installation.
The suitcase represents a 'World' filled with memories and objects that have a meaning for you.
Learners are from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Colombia, Egypt, India, Iraq, Morocco, Nigeria, Portugal,
Somalia and Sri Lanka.
Everyone in the group is in the process of learning English through the 'English Speaking Club' classes at Church Street Library. What they have written is in their own words.
They have added objects with meaning to their suitcases, created collages about Childhood and Home and written stories
